Scope of Position

The Azure Engineer Intern supports the Systems Engineering team with day-to-day administration, monitoring, and optimization of the Microsoft Azure environment, with a primary focus on the Dynamics 365 (D365) ERP+ platform. This role is designed as a hands-on learning opportunity, providing exposure to enterprise cloud infrastructure, security, automation, and ERP+-related workloads within Azure.

The intern will work under close supervision and alongside senior engineers, gaining practical experience with cloud operations, governance, and best practices while contributing to the ongoing D365 ERP+ project.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

To perform this role successfully, the intern must be able to carry out the following responsibilities with guidance and mentorship:

Azure & Cloud Operations

? Assist with the deployment, configuration, and monitoring of Azure resources supporting the D365 ERP+ environment, including, but not limited to, virtual machines, storage, networking, Application registrations, and platform services.

? Perform routine health checks and monitoring of Azure workloads, logging systems, and alerts.

? Support scheduled maintenance activities such as patching, updates, and basic performance validation.

? Help document Azure configurations, standards, and operational procedures.

D365 ERP+ Project Support

? Support Azure infrastructure components used by Dynamics 365 ERP+, including environments for development, testing, and production.

? Assist with troubleshooting infrastructure-related issues impacting D365 performance, availability, or integrations.

? Participate in ERP+-related change activities, including environment refreshes and upgrades, under supervision.

Security, Compliance, and Governance

? Assist in applying and validating basic Azure security controls, including role-based access control (RBAC), policies, and monitoring tools.

? Support identity-related tasks involving Entra ID (Azure AD), such as user access reviews and role assignments.

? Learn and assist with governance concepts such as cost management, tagging, and resource organization.

Automation and Tooling

? Assist with basic PowerShell scripting for Azure administration and reporting tasks.

? Learn and support infrastructure-as-code concepts and automation where applicable.

Collaboration and Support

? Work closely with Systems Engineering, Application, Security, and ERP+ teams to support project objectives.

? Provide basic operational support and escalation to senior engineers when required.

? Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, Experience, and Education

? Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

? Basic understanding of cloud computing concepts (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).

? Familiarity with Microsoft Azure fundamentals or equivalent coursework.

? Basic knowledge of Windows operating systems and networking concepts.

? Strong willingness to learn, follow procedures, and accept feedback.

? Good written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

? Coursework or hands-on exposure to Microsoft Azure or Dynamics 365.

? Familiarity with PowerShell or another scripting language.

? Basic understanding of identity concepts (users, groups, roles).

? Interest in ERP systems, cloud security, or FinOps/cost management practices.

? Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) certification or in progress.

Physical And Other Requirements

? Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.

? Occasional lifting of equipment up to 25 lbs.

? Minimal travel expected.

? Intern schedule and duration to be defined based on program requirements.
